Aberlleiniog Adventure created by RichieBlod
Tucked away near Llangoed on Anglesey, Aberlleiniog Nature Reserve is home to the hidden ruins of Castell Aberlleiniog 🏰 A Norman motte-and-bailey castle dating back to the late 11th century. Built in a strategic position overlooking the Menai Strait 🌊 It was once used to monitor movement along the coast and communicate with other fortifications. Originally constructed from wood and later rebuilt in stone 🪨, the castle played a role in medieval conflicts, but today its moss-covered remains lie quietly within the woodland 🌳, waiting to be discovered by those who venture off the beaten path 🧭.
So, take a stroll around the Aberlleiniog Castle paths, answer the questions and gain clues to the bonus cache, hidden not too far away!

GCBMXPF Aberlleiniog Adventure Event by RichieBlod Event D1/T2
A very rare occurrence, a Bank Holiday Sunday in Wales with blue skies and sunshine. All perfect for an event and stroll around the beautiful woods that surround Aberlleiniog castle. After cake and drinks accompanied by plenty of geochat we all enjoyed finding the new lab caches plus a the bonus.
A lovely time was had, plenty of laughs, lots of geocaching chat, and beautiful weather to top it all off. What more could we ask for?
Just need to say Thank You to RichieBlod & MonHunter for hosting and setting the new Ad Lab and caches.

Lôn Las Ogwen Footpath Closure
The following announcement has been made by Gwynedd Council and may effect your future geocaching plans:

Footpaths temporarily closed in Bethesda area to allow upgrading work.
As part of the work to improve and develop the footpath network in the Dyffryn Ogwen area, some paths near Lôn Las Ogwen will be closed for a period of up to four weeks from Friday, 15 May.

“In order to be able to carry out work to demolish the old Pont Sarnau bridge over Afon Ogwen, the Llanydgai footpath 39 (the route on the north side of the river) will be temporarily closed. Lôn Las Ogwen, from its entrance to the Dŵr Cymru site will also be closed during the work. We will confirm as soon as possible when the trails reopen.
When this work is completed, a new Pont Sarnau bridge will be open to the public and it is expected that the Llandygai footpath 38 will also be able to re-open following significant upgrades.
We apologise for the temporary inconvenience but we are confident that the network in this area following the development will strengthen active travel links between Dyffryn Ogwen and Bangor.
This work is part of the Llewyrch o’r Llechi scheme; a cultural investment programme funded by the UK Government and led by Cyngor Gwynedd. It is part of a series of improvements resulting from the Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales World Heritage Site designation.”
Lôn Eifion Cycle Path Closure Update

The latest from Gwynedd council:
“
Update: Work on Lôn Eifion ![]()
We are pleased to report that the first phase of the repair work on Lôn Eifion has now been completed. This has included repairing the embankment which had been significantly damaged.
Work is progressing well on the remainder of the project. Some adjustments to the plans were needed on site, but these have now been agreed, and we are pleased to see good progress being made.
At present, we anticipate that the work will be completed in early June. Thank you all for your patience and understanding while the work is being carried out.”
Hopefully our next update will be that the path has reopened.
